What is the site’s mission?
The mission of this site is to assist professional wildlife educators, trainers and keepers in making wise choices regarding animals used in educational programs.
The website serves as a clearinghouse for information regarding animals used in educational programming. The website will provide two unique opportunities for professional wildlife educators, trainers and keepers. These individuals will have the opportunity to provide information regarding their experiences and opinions regarding animal species that are used in educational programs. The website will also allow individuals who are interested in adding species to their program animal collection to see if a match exists between their programmatic needs and a selected species based on the input of their peers.
The website will provide interested visitors with a list of species that are currently being used as education program animals in institutions in the United States and the United Kingdom. It will also provide basic information about the distribution and life history parameters of a particular species. As individuals provide input regarding a particular species, more information will be available to website users.
